About the city
Nancy is a city and commune in the Lorraine région of northeastern France, former capital of the duchy of Lorraine.
City areas
Nancy is divided into four districts (cantons): Nancy-Est, Nancy-Nord, Nancy-Ouest and Nancy-Sud.
Transportation
Nancy’s bus and tram system could be useful for moving around Greater Nancy, meaning between downtown Nancy and its suburbs, but the majority of attractions are in town and can be seen by foot.
Events
With plenty of festivals, fairs and exhibitions, Nancy proves it could easily be Lorraine’s entertainment and cultural capital.
Attractions
Nancy’s old city center’s heritage dates from the Middle Ages to the 18th century, thus having plenty to offer to any tourist, but attractions can be found all around the city.
History and civilization
Although many prehistoric sites were discovered in the area, showing that the earliest signs of human settlement date back to 800 BC, the early steps of becoming city are from the 8th century AD.
Restaurants and nightlife
Nancy has its fair share of Irish pubs, wine bars, cafes, and other drinking establishments, but when it comes to restaurants, traditional French dishes rarely leave place for something different.
